THE BAND PERRY - If I Die Young

This song is from the album The Band Perry(2010), released on 12 October 2010.
This was one of my favorite songs while it was released. The beautiful music, her soothing voice and the meaningful lyrics were all that was needed to make this a very memorable song. Thanks to Avery for this excellent suggestion.

If I die young, bury me in satin
         B C#m
Lay me down on a bed of roses
               A E

Send me away with the words of a love song

[INSTRUMENTAL] A E B

[VERSE]
               A E
Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
                          B C#m
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh,
    A E
And life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
B C#m
Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby

[PRE-CHORUS]
A E B C#m
The sharp knife of a short life, oh well
A E B
I've had just enough time

[CHORUS]
          A E
If I die young, bury me in satin
          B C#m
Lay me down on a bed of roses
                 A E
Sink me in the river at dawn
          B C#m
Send me away with the words of a love song

A E B C#m
The sharp knife of a short life, oh well
A E B
I've had just enough time

[VERSE]
                     A E
And I'll be wearing white, when I come into your kingdom
        B C#m
I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger,
       A E
I've never known the lovin' of a man
         B C#m
But it sure felt nice when he was holdin' my hand,
          A E
There's a boy here in town, says he'll love me forever,
B C#m
Who would have thought forever could be severed by...

[PRE-CHORUS]
A E B C#m
...the sharp knife of a short life, oh well?
A E B A
I've had just enough time

[INSTRUMENTAL] A E B C#m x2
[BRIDGE]
A E
So put on your best, boys, and I'll wear my pearls
C#m
What I never did is done

                   A E
A penny for my thoughts, oh, no, I'll sell 'em for a dollar
 B C#m
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
      A E
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'
 B C#m
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'

[INSTRUMENTAL] A E B

[CHORUS]
          A E
If I die young, bury me in satin
          B C#m
Lay me down on a bed of roses
                 A E
Sink me in the river at dawn
          B C#m
Send me away with the words of a love song

A
Uh oh (uh, oh)
      E B
The ballad of a dove (uh, oh)
         C#m
Go with peace and love
A E
Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket
B C#m A
Save 'em for a time when you're really gonna need 'em, oh

                        E B C#m
The sharp knife of a short life, oh well
A E B
I've had just enough time

[OUTRO]
   A E B
So put on your best, boys, and I'll wear my pearls.
