Ever since Brent Smith formed Shinedown, the rock band has delivered nothing short of magical hits. With a majority of music critics categorizing their music as hard rock, Kerch, the band’s drummer, was quick to state that they are just your regular rock and roll band.

Having made their way from the small town of Jacksonville, Shinedown has soared high to be one of the most celebrated bands in the history of rock and roll. Collectively, Shinedown has released six studio albums with the latest being Attention Attention, which was released in 2018. With 27 singles up their sleeves, each of the singles has managed to reach top 5 in the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Musical career

Leave a Whisper was the rock band’s debut album released in 2003. Despite the album not being an overnight success, the band went on tours for 24 months straight, boosting the album sales to over one million copies. In 2005, the celebrated rock band released its second studio album Us and Them. Despite selling less than its predecessor, the album peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart. To show love to their fans as well as promote their album, Shinedown went on a heavy tour again. Having produced three massive hits namely, I Dare You, Save Me, and Heroes from the album, album sales rose sky high leading them to receive a platinum certification.

Internal wrangles

In 2007, Shinedown started working on their third studio album. However, some misunderstandings led to the release of Brad Stewart and Jasin Todd. According to Zach Myers, at the time, both Todd and Smith were struggling with substance abuse. Smith’s move to fire Todd and stop abusing drugs saved the band at the brink of a breakup.

Since the band did not have a guitarist and bassist, Smith went ahead to work with various instrumentalists for their third album The Sound of Madness. The album was a commercial success, selling over 50,000 copies in the first week. Producing massive hits like Devour, If You Only Knew, and The Sound of Madness, the album was certified double platinum in the United States and silver in Britain.

Before their tour, the band’s lead Smith added Nick Perri as the lead guitarist, Zach Myers as the rhythm guitarist, and Eric Bass as the Bassist. After a short while, Perri left the group to pursue a solo career.

The next two albums Amaryllis, and Threat To Survival were also a commercial success, producing great hits.

Attention! Attention!

Shinedown has been top of the rock music charts since their first album, and things are seemingly even better with their latest album Attention Attention. Shinedown started working on the album in 2017, but it is not until March 2018 that the album’s first single Devil was released. Much to the amusement of fans, the album was released two months later.

The album debuted at number one on three rock charts. The song Attention Attention from the same album was released on September 19, 2019, and has received much airplay.

In March 2020, Shinedown released Atlas Falls, an unreleased song from their fourth studio album Amaryllis. It is in May of 2020 that the team of multi-talented rock stars announced that they postponed their Attention Attention tour until further notice due to the current corona virus pandemic.
